Description
Beaver Tail platform is named for the local web-footed residents although you’re more likely to see a deer bounding through this cypress-tupelo backwater. This camping platform is located at the back of Upper Deadwater Creek off Devil’s Gut about 5 miles up from Jamesville and only 2 miles from Barred Owl Roost.
Beaver Tail platform is a 28′ x 16′ platform located on the left side which is only 80 feet from Beaver Lodge. The platform is joined to a walkway with a bridge which allows campers to walk from Beaver Tail platform to Beaver Lodge platform. Each platform can be rented separately or simply make a reservation for Beaver Lodge too to double your group camping capacity to better serve scouts, students, and other groups. (Groups, see Tillery, too!) The platform is an open space but includes a picnic table. The walkway to the platform measures 26 inches in width with two steps up to a landing and then another 12″ high step to the platform. There is a wooden enclosure in the corner of the platform that can be used for privacy with a door opening measuring 28 inches wide. There are no facilities; bring your own. Please follow Leave No Trace guidelines. This platform can not be reached by vehicle but only by boat.
