Home from the Roanoke River adventure. We paddled roughly 55 miles from Hamilton to Plymouth, with one night of camping on the riverbank and three nights on camping platforms: Conine, Beaver Tail and Cow Creek. It was hard but rewarding. The riverbanks and swamps were lovely in new green, and we saw great birds, especially Bald Eagles daily and several Anhingas. I have only two more short sections of river to complete my dream of paddling from Weldon down to the Albemarle Sound on the mighty Roanoke.
