Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: |
Can we camp along the bank of the Roanoke where there are not platforms?

A: |
Not without permission from the landowner owner. The land along the Roanoke is owned either by state or federal entities or by private organizations, hunting clubs or individuals. Some of this land, like that owned by the Roanoke River National Wildlife Refuge, prohibits camping except during specific times and with permits for specific places. Roanoke River Partners is working on establishing upriver camping areas so that paddlers can paddle the entire river, or parts of it, without fear of trespassing.
