Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Is the water tidal?

A: The Roanoke is subject to wind tides and, to a small degree, lunar tides. Particularly around Beaver Lodge, Beaver Tail, or Barred Owl Roost (because these are surrounded by water), you may notice the water moving gently out of the swamp past the platform. This movement can make a noticeable, but not drastic, difference in the water level around the platform and is interesting to observe.
